Anthony Lo, the renowned automotive designer, was appointed as the Chief Design Officer and Vice President of Global Design of BAIC Group in October 2024. Before joining BAIC, he served as Ford Global Chief Design Officer, focusing on creating unique brand experiences for Ford and Lincoln.
From 2010 to 2021, Lo was Vice President of Exterior Design at Renault, where he developed specific design languages for new Renault and Dacia model and contributed to the “Cycle of Life” design strategy. In 2010, Lo was the Director of advanced design for General Motors Europe, overseeing key projects like the Saab Aero-X concept.
In 1993, Lo joined Mercedes-Benz’s advanced design studio in Japan, contributing to the F200 Imagination, Maybach Concept and influencing W221 S-Class. From 1990 to 1993, Lo worked on advanced design projects at Audi in Germany, including the Audi AVUS Quattro concept. Lo began his international design career at Lotus Cars, where he designed the distinctive Carlton and worked on the Isuzu 4200R concept.
A native of Hong Kong, Lo graduated in 1985 from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a degree in Industrial Design and earned his Master’s in Automotive Design from the Royal College of Art in London.
Numerous accolades have been awarded to Lo: Louis Vuitton Classic Concept finalist (2006); United Kingdom’s Auto Car Concept Car of the Year (2006); United Kingdom’s Car Design News Concept Car of the Year (2007); Geneva Auto Show’s Best of Show (2006); Hong Kong Elle Style’s Asian Designer of the Year (2007); United States’ AutoWeek Best Concept (2008); World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer Award (2012); Hong Kong Outstanding Polytechnic University Alumni Award (2013).
